Manx Museum's giant deer returned after restoration work

The Island's only giant deer skeleton has been returned to the Manx Museum following restoration and analysis work. 

It was found in St Johns in the 1800's - initial estimates put it at around 12,000 years old; carbon dating done recently will hopefully determine its actual age. 

Samples of bone and tooth were sent away for DNA testing, the bones were cleaned with lasers, and the frame was re-set slightly to better reflect how it would have looked.
